Recent experience

New Zealand Transport Agency

We assisted Land Transport New Zealand (now New Zealand Transport Agency) with legal contracts to procure and implement an enterprise-wide unified communications solution.

This major project involved the replacement of a legacy telephone network with a single managed network for both voice (VoIP) and data at various sites throughout New Zealand. Our team was involved in the entire life cycle of the procurement. Our advice included the initial legal review of the draft request for proposal (RFP) and the preparation of the procurement contract for inclusion in the RFP. We also assisted with the negotiation and signing of the contract with the successful vendor (IBM).

Our advice ensured all legal aspects of the project were appropriately addressed. We provided the client with an effective contract that committed the supplier to delivering a solution that met agreed requirements, with appropriate
remedies available if those requirements were not met.

Unison Fibre Limited

Unison Fibre is involved in rolling out an optical fibre network to customers in Hawke’s Bay and the central North Island, and has purchased dark fibre and other network assets in that region.

We have assisted Unison Fibre with all aspects of its network rollout, including acquisition of network assets, drafting and negotiation of IRU agreements, advice on Telecommunications Act matters, and drafting and negotiation of network services contracts with suppliers and customers of Unison.

Our specialist expertise means our client was able to have all its needs met by a single team delivering timely and useful advice efficiently and cost-effectively.

P&O Group

We assisted with setting up a master agreement structure and global price book arrangement for P&O Ports Group (the leading global container terminal operator). This allowed individual ports around the world to procure British Telecommunications products and services at predetermined prices from an online catalogue.

Our assistance resulted in contractual arrangements that gave pricing certainty regardless of purchase quantity. These arrangements allowed individual entities to issue order forms under a master umbrella arrangement on a global basis for all 27 terminals operated by P&O Group.
